History & character

Jim Beam's main distillery in Clermont, Kentucky. The family — originally the Böhm family from Germany — traces its whiskey to Jacob Beam around 1795.

James B. "Jim" Beam, who ran the business from 1892 to 1944, rebuilt it after Prohibition ended in 1933–34. His grandson Booker Noe served as master distiller for over 40 years.

Suntory acquired the company in 2014, and it is now part of Suntory Global Spirits. It makes one of the world's best-selling bourbons.
