Heaven Hill

USA / Kentucky · Founded 1935

A family-owned bourbon producer based in Bardstown, Kentucky, behind Elijah Craig and Evan Williams.

History & character

Founded in Bardstown, Kentucky, in 1935 by a group of investors including the Shapira family, who later bought out the other shareholders. It remains family-owned today.

A major fire in 1996 destroyed its distillery and a huge amount of maturing whiskey. In 1999 it bought the Bernheim distillery in Louisville from Diageo, where it now distils, while keeping its headquarters in Bardstown.

Its bourbons include Elijah Craig, Evan Williams and Old Fitzgerald.
