Background & production
Made at the James B. Beam Distilling Co. in Clermont, Kentucky. Booker Noe, Jim Beam's sixth-generation master distiller, created it in 1992 as part of the Small Batch Bourbon Collection, alongside Booker's, Baker's and Basil Hayden's.
It is aged nine years in heavily charred barrels and bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV). The longer ageing and higher strength give it a rich, robust character.
