How to enjoy it
- On the rocks
- Highball
- Neat
The oak-heavy profile rewards a slow pour on the rocks as the ice melts. In a highball the barrel character still comes through clearly.
Food pairing
Spare ribs and barbecue with sticky sauces, chocolate or pecans.
Background & production
Made at the Jim Beam distillery in Clermont, Kentucky. The Beam family's whiskey-making is traced back to around 1795, and the business is now part of Suntory Global Spirits.
Double Oak is first aged in a newly charred American white oak barrel, then transferred into a second freshly charred barrel to mature again. The extra contact with wood deepens its oak spice and caramel.
It is bottled at 43% ABV (86 proof).
