Background & production
Named after Masataka Taketsuru, Nikka's founder and "the father of Japanese whisky". It is a pure (blended) malt combining malts from two very different distilleries: Yoichi in Hokkaido and Miyagikyo in Miyagi.
It is described as having soft, sweet oak and fruit, full malt richness, and a bittersweet finish with gentle peat.
Bottled at 43%. It won the World's Best Blended Malt title at the 2023 World Whiskies Awards.
