It is designed to shine in a highball — the "Kaku highball" is an izakaya staple. A slice of lemon works well.

Background & production
A Suntory blended whisky born in 1937 and a long-seller for over 80 years, it is described as Japan's best-selling whisky.
It balances bourbon-cask whiskies from Yamazaki and Hakushu, giving rich body with a dry finish.
The tortoiseshell-patterned bottle and yellow label have remained unchanged since launch; the design is said to have been inspired by a Satsuma cut-glass perfume bottle given to founder Shinjiro Torii. Bottled at 40%.
