Background & production

Made at Hakushu Distillery in Hokuto, Yamanashi, set in forest at the foot of Mount Kaikoma in the Southern Alps — hence its nickname, the "forest distillery".

Hakushu 12 is selected from malt whiskies aged at least 12 years. It is described as having fresh green-leaf and fruity aromas with a sweet, soft smokiness, fruity and full yet crisp on the finish.

Bottled at 43%. Sales were suspended for a time due to a shortage of aged stock, and it later returned in limited quantities.
