How to enjoy it

  • Highball
  • On the rocks
  • Neat

Its clear sweetness keeps a highball from tasting thin. On the rocks the vanilla opens up slowly.

Food pairing

Sweet things such as vanilla ice cream or castella cake, and fruit. With food, try grilled chicken.

Background & production

Grain whisky made in the Coffey stills at Nikka's Miyagikyo Distillery. The Coffey still is a 19th-century design of continuous still; Nikka brought its stills over from Scotland in 1963.

Although less efficient than modern stills, it retains more of the raw material's aroma and sweetness, so this whisky is noticeably sweeter than typical grain whisky.

No age statement; bottled at 45%.
