How to enjoy it

  • Neat
  • With water
  • On the rocks

At 46% it has real weight, so try it neat first. A few drops of water open up the berries; over ice the sweetness and spice tighten.

Food pairing

Dark chocolate, berry tarts or blue cheese. Also good with roast red meat.

Background & production

Made at the Glenmorangie distillery in Tain in the Highlands, known for its focus on "extra maturation" — finishing whisky in a second type of cask.

The Quinta Ruban is part of that extra-matured range. It spends 10 years in American white oak ex-bourbon casks before moving into ruby port pipes selected from the quintas (wine estates) of Portugal. "Ruban" is Gaelic for ruby.

Aged 14 years and non-chill filtered, it is bottled at 46% ABV.
