Background & production

Made at The Dalmore in Alness, on the Cromarty Firth north of Inverness, founded in 1839. The 12-pointed royal stag on the bottle was introduced by the Mackenzie brothers, who bought the distillery in 1867.

The 12 Year Old is first matured in American white oak ex-bourbon casks, which bring vanilla and honey. Part of the spirit then moves into sherry casks, including some that held aged oloroso, before the two are brought back together.

It is bottled at 40%.
