With its high strength, it is fun over ice, the balance shifting as it dilutes. It holds up in a highball and makes a strong base for cocktails like a Manhattan.

Background & production
Made at the Wild Turkey distillery in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. The "101" refers to 101 proof, or 50.5% ABV.
The mash bill is 75% corn, 13% rye and 12% malted barley — relatively high in rye. It matures in heavily charred new American white oak barrels, and the blend is built mainly on 6- to 7-year-old bourbon with some 8-year-old in the mix.
It carries on the style long upheld by legendary Master Distiller Jimmy Russell, and the brand is now owned by the Campari Group.
