Background & production
Made at Barton 1792 Distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky, established in 1879 and owned by the Sazerac Company since 2009.
The name marks 1792, the year Kentucky became a state. It launched in 2002 as 1792 Ridgewood Reserve, became 1792 Ridgemont Reserve and is now 1792 Small Batch; an 8-year age statement was dropped in 2013.
Made to a 'high rye' mash bill from a marriage of selected barrels, it is bottled at 46.85% (93.7 proof).
