Background & production
A bourbon from Heaven Hill in Kentucky made in the wheated style, with wheat rather than rye as the secondary grain. It follows in the line of the Old Fitzgerald brand, which Heaven Hill acquired in 1999.
The name nods to John E. Fitzgerald, a Treasury bonding agent said to have used his warehouse keys to sneak whiskey from the best barrels — hence the key on the label.
Launched in 2012, it is a small batch of no more than 100 barrels, bottled at 92 proof (46% ABV).
