Background & production
Made at the Buffalo Trace distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. The brand has been owned by the Sazerac Company since 1999.
Where most bourbons use rye as the secondary grain, Weller uses wheat — a wheated bourbon. It is named after William Larue Weller, who is said to have been the first to make straight bourbon with wheat.
Special Reserve is the entry point to the range, bottled at 45% ABV (90 proof).
