How to enjoy it

Neat or over a large cube lets the port-cask fruit shine. In an Old Fashioned the sweetness and fruit really come forward.

Dark chocolate, berry tart or blue cheese. Also smoked pork.

Background & production

A bourbon brand based at its distillery in Louisville, Kentucky. Lincoln Henderson — long-time master distiller at Brown-Forman and known as the father of Woodford Reserve — came out of retirement to create it with his son Wes, and it launched in 2011. Bacardi acquired the brand in 2015, and its own distillery opened in downtown Louisville in 2016.

Kentucky straight bourbon aged up to about six years is transferred to 60-gallon French oak ruby port barrels imported from Portugal and finished for three to six months. It is made in small batches of eight to twelve barrels.

It carries no age statement and is bottled at 43.3% ABV.
