Background & production
Made at Highland Park in Kirkwall on Orkney, one of Scotland's northernmost distilleries. It still runs traditional floor maltings and dries part of its malt with hand-cut Orkney peat rich in heather.
The 18 Year Old gets its depth from a high proportion of whisky matured in first-fill sherry-seasoned European oak casks, rounded out with sherry-seasoned American oak and refill casks. First introduced in 1997, it was renamed Viking Pride in 2017, with packaging inspired by the carvings of Norway's Urnes Stave Church.
It is bottled at 43%.
