Distilleries / Scotland

Highland Park

Scotland / Islands (Orkney) · Founded 1798

On Orkney, among Scotland's northernmost distilleries. Floor-malted with heather-rich island peat for sweet, aromatic smoke.

History & character

In Kirkwall on Orkney, Scotland's northernmost single malt distillery. Its founding is dated to 1798, linked to the legend of Magnus Eunson — butcher and church officer by day, illicit distiller by night. It was formally licensed in 1826.

It still runs floor maltings on site, drying its malt with heather-rich local peat cut at Hobbister Moor.

Maturation in sherry-seasoned European and American oak casks from Spain is another hallmark. It is owned by Edrington.
