How to enjoy it

  • Highball
  • Neat
  • With water

With gentle smoke, it is a good introduction to peated whisky. As a highball the peat comes through fresh and lively.

Food pairing

Smoked dishes, grilled meats and smoked cheese.

Background & production

Made at Cooley Distillery in County Louth, north-east Ireland, and launched in 1996, it uses 100% malted barley dried over peat fires.

While most Irish whiskey is unpeated and triple distilled, Connemara is double distilled in copper pot stills, giving it a smoky, Scotch-like style. Cooley was founded in 1987 and is now owned by Suntory Global Spirits.

Bottled at 40%.
