How to enjoy it

  • Neat
  • With water
  • Highball

Try it neat first to appreciate the depth and peat; a few drops of water open up the fruit. Smoke still comes through in a strong highball.

Food pairing

Smoked atka mackerel or herring, Genghis Khan lamb barbecue and smoked cheese.

Background & production

A single malt from Yoichi Distillery in Yoichi, Hokkaido. The distillery keeps the traditional method of heating its pot stills directly with coal fires, producing powerful, heavy spirit.

The 10 Year Old was launched in 2022 as Yoichi's first age-statement release in seven years, part of Nikka's run-up to its 90th anniversary in 2024. After a Hokkaido-first release it went on sale nationwide in limited quantities (9,000 bottles a year).

Bottled at 45% in 700ml bottles.
