Background & production
Made at the Pulteney distillery in Wick, Caithness, founded in 1826 during the town's herring boom. Closed in 1930 after local prohibition, it reopened in 1951 and has been owned by Inver House Distillers since 1995.
The 12 Year Old is matured for twelve years in hand-selected, air-dried ex-bourbon casks, in the salty air of the North Sea coast. The distillery calls this style 'the Maritime Malt'.
It is bottled at 40%.
