Background & production

A blended (pure) malt from Ichiro Akuto of Venture Whisky in Chichibu, combining malts from two distilleries.

One is Hanyu, founded by Ichiro's grandfather and closed in 2000; Ichiro rescued its remaining casks. The other is Chichibu Distillery in Saitama, which Ichiro founded himself in 2008.

Hanyu malt aged in old sherry hogsheads gives structure, while Chichibu malt from new Mizunara casks adds freshness and sweetness. Known as the "Green Leaf" for its label, it is bottled at 46.5%.
