Background & production
Made at Edderton, near the Dornoch Firth in the north of Scotland. Founded by John Ross in 1790, the distillery was rebuilt nearer the railway station in 1895 but still draws water from its original source, the Ault Dearg burn. Inver House Distillers has owned it since 1996.
The 12 Year Old is the distillery's defining expression, matured in American oak ex-bourbon and double-fired American oak casks in traditional earth-floored dunnage warehouses.
It is bottled at 46% ABV without chill filtration or added colour.
