How to enjoy it

  • Neat
  • With water

Best neat, slowly, as it was designed — with or without a cigar. A drop of water brings out the orange and chocolate.

Food pairing

Dark chocolate, dried figs, or after-dinner cheese; and, of course, a cigar.

Background & production

Made at The Dalmore distillery in the Highlands. The original Cigar Malt left the range in 2007, and after many fans asked for its return, the Cigar Malt Reserve was launched in 2012 with cigar pairing specifically in mind.

Part of the spirit stays in American oak, while the rest is divided between Cabernet Sauvignon wine barriques and 30-year-old Matusalem sherry casks from González Byass. It is bottled at 44% so that its flavour can cut through and harmonise with cigar smoke.
