Background & production
Made at Knockdhu distillery near the village of Knock in Aberdeenshire, north-east of Speyside. Opened in 1894, it is said to be the first distillery the Distillers Company built itself.
To avoid confusion with the similarly named Knockando, its single malt has been sold as anCnoc (Gaelic for 'the hill') since 1993; the name took hold after Inver House relaunched the brand in the early 2000s.
The 12 Year Old is matured in refill American and European oak casks and bottled at 40% ABV.
