Background & production
Made at the Cardhu distillery in Speyside. It traces its roots to illicit distilling by John Cumming and his wife Helen on their farm, licensed in 1824. It came under John Walker & Sons in 1893 and is now owned by Diageo.
Much of the distillery's spirit goes into Johnnie Walker blends, and Cardhu is its face as a single malt.
The 12 Year Old is the core age-statement bottling, at 40% ABV.
