Background & production
Tullamore D.E.W. blends three types of Irish whiskey — pot still, malt and grain — all triple distilled. The 12 Year Old Special Reserve uses a higher proportion of pot still and malt.
It combines whiskeys aged 12 to 15 years in bourbon and oloroso sherry casks and is bottled at 40%.
The brand was acquired by William Grant & Sons, and the 12 Year Old — originally a travel-retail exclusive — was reintroduced with new packaging.
