Background & production
Jameson traces its origins to the distillery John Jameson opened in Dublin in 1780, and since 1975 it has been made at Midleton distillery in County Cork.
Crested blends pot still and grain whiskeys, with a higher share of pot still than the standard bottling and a larger proportion of sherry casks alongside bourbon casks. Both components are distilled at Midleton.
Its predecessor, Crested Ten, was the first whiskey Jameson bottled itself, in 1963 — until then it sold its whiskey in cask to bonders. Today's Crested carries that on and is bottled at 40% ABV.
