Background & production

Made at Knockando in Speyside. Construction began in 1896, backed by a consortium of blenders, and the first spirit ran in 1897. For most of its life it supplied blends; it was mothballed in 2010, bought by Ian Macleod Distillers in 2011, and restarted production in 2013.

Its entire single malt range is matured exclusively in Oloroso sherry casks sourced from bodegas in Jerez, Spain.

The 12 Year Old arrived in 2018 to replace the 10 Year Old. Matured in first-fill and refill Oloroso casks of American and European oak, it is bottled at 43% ABV without added colour or chill filtration.
