Tamdhu

Scotland / Speyside · Founded 1897

A distillery at Knockando in Speyside, known for maturing its entire single malt range in Oloroso sherry casks.

History & character

Located at Knockando in Speyside. Built from 1896 by a consortium of blenders who wanted their own spirit, it first distilled in July 1897.

For most of its history it supplied blends such as The Famous Grouse and Cutty Sark, with silent periods in 1911–12, 1928–47 and 2010–13.

Ian Macleod Distillers bought it in 2011 and restarted production in 2013. Today its entire single malt range is matured exclusively in Oloroso sherry casks sourced from bodegas in Jerez, Spain.
