How to enjoy it

  • Neat
  • With water

Sip it neat to appreciate the depth of long sherry-cask ageing. A few drops of water open up the marmalade and honey.

Food pairing

Dried fruit, nuts and dark chocolate, aged cheese — or on its own instead of dessert.

Background & production

A single malt from The Macallan distillery at Easter Elchies near Craigellachie in Speyside. Founded in 1824, it is known for its small stills and sherry-cask maturation.

The Double Cask series combines two kinds of cask, American oak and European oak, both seasoned with Oloroso sherry. The American oak brings vanilla sweetness, the European oak spice.

The 18 Year Old is the series' long-aged bottling, at 43% ABV.
