Background & production

Released by Lagavulin in 2016 to celebrate the distillery's 200th anniversary, it pays tribute to Victorian whisky writer Alfred Barnard, who tasted an eight-year-old Lagavulin on Islay and described it as "exceptionally fine".

Aged only in refill American oak casks and bottled at 48%. Introduced as a commemorative release, it later became part of the core range.
