How to enjoy it

  • Neat
  • On the rocks
  • With water

Neat is the way to enjoy its rich fruit in full. Over ice the sweetness tightens and it works well in hot weather; a splash of water lifts the tropical notes.

Food pairing

Berry or chocolate desserts and dried fruit. With a meal, roast duck or sweet-savoury braised pork belly.

Background & production

Made at the Kavalan distillery in Yilan County, north-east Taiwan. Founded in 2005, it was Taiwan's first whisky maker, and maturation runs quickly in the subtropical climate.

Concertmaster takes whisky matured in American oak and finishes it in three kinds of Portuguese port casks — ruby, tawny and vintage. It was named Best in Class at the 2011 International Wine & Spirit Competition.

It is bottled without an age statement at 40% ABV.
