Background & production

Made at King Car Group's Kavalan distillery in Yilan County, north-east Taiwan. Founded in 2005, it benefits from a hot, humid subtropical climate that speeds maturation and brings out tropical-fruit character.

The Distillery Select series is an entry-level range celebrating the work of master blender Ian Chang. It was first released unnumbered in 2018 and renamed No.1 when a second edition arrived.

A no-age-statement single malt matured in refill casks, it is bottled at 40% ABV.
