Background & production
Made at the Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg, Moore County, Tennessee. Jasper Newton "Jack" Daniel is said to have registered the distillery in 1866, making it one of the oldest registered distilleries in the United States.
New spirit from a mash bill of 80% corn, 12% barley and 8% rye is dripped slowly through ten feet of sugar-maple charcoal over three to five days before ageing — the Lincoln County Process that defines Tennessee whiskey, removing harsh notes and adding mellowness.
It then matures in new American white oak barrels and is bottled at 40%.
