How to enjoy it

  • On the rocks
  • Neat
  • Highball

At 47% ABV it is well balanced on the rocks. Neat, the individuality of each barrel shows more clearly, and it holds up well in a highball.

Food pairing

Barbecue, smoked pork or burgers. Also pecan pie.

Background & production

A Tennessee whiskey from the Jack Daniel distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee. The new spirit is filtered through sugar-maple charcoal — the Lincoln County Process — and then matured in charred new oak barrels.

While Old No.7 is a vatting of many barrels, Single Barrel Select is bottled from one barrel only. The barrels come from the upper floors of the warehouses, where colour and flavour deepen, and are picked by the master distiller and a team of tasters.

It is bottled at 47% ABV (94 proof). Each barrel differs slightly in aroma and colour, and the label records the barrel details.
