How to enjoy it

  • Neat
  • With water

An old whisky to savour neat as the aromas evolve. If adding water, keep it to the smallest drop so the sherry depth isn't lost.

Food pairing

Blue cheese, nuts, dried fruit, bitter chocolate — or an after-dinner cigar.

Background & production

An older expression from Glenfarclas, near Ballindalloch in Speyside. Since John Grant bought it in 1865 his descendants have owned and run it, making it one of Scotland's few truly family-owned distilleries. Its stills, said to be the largest in Speyside, are heated by direct gas flame, and the distillery is renowned for sherry-cask maturation.

The 25 Year Old is an official bottling matured in oloroso sherry casks and bottled at 43%.
