How to enjoy it
- Neat
- Highball
- With water
Try it neat first to catch its delicate fruit and herbs. At 46% ABV, a few drops of water help it open up. Its freshness also makes for a bright highball.
Food pairing
Light, fresh dishes: white-fish carpaccio, herb salads or lemon-and-herb roast chicken.
Background & production
Made at Aultmore distillery near Keith in Speyside. It was founded in 1895 by Alexander Edward and has belonged to Bacardi's Dewar's since 1998.
Blenders have long rated the spirit highly, and most of it went into blends. The 12 Year Old was released in 2014 as part of Dewar's Last Great Malts range.
Matured in refill casks so the distillery's delicate, grassy character shines through, it is bottled at 46% ABV without chill-filtration and at its natural colour.
