How to enjoy it
- Neat

At around 54%, sip it neat in small amounts. Water brings the sherry sweetness forward, sharpening the contrast with the smoke.
Food pairing
Dark chocolate, pecan pie, smoked meats and aged cheese.
Background & production
Made at Ardbeg Distillery on Islay, it takes its name from Loch Uigeadail, the peaty loch that supplies the distillery's water.
Whisky from ex-bourbon American oak and old oloroso sherry casks is married, layering raisiny sherry sweetness over Ardbeg's deep smoke. Non-chill filtered and bottled at natural cask strength, around 54.2%.
It was named World Whisky of the Year in 2009 and voted favourite Ardbeg by the Ardbeg Committee fan club.
