In the harbour town on the Isle of Mull, producing unpeated Tobermory and peated Ledaig.

History & character

The only distillery on the Isle of Mull, in the harbour town of Tobermory. Founded in 1798 by John Sinclair of Lochaline, it was originally called Ledaig Distillery.

It has been through many closures and changes of owner, including 1837–1879, the 1930s–1972 and 1981–1989. It has been owned since 2013 by Distell, now part of Heineken.

It makes two single malts — unpeated Tobermory and the smaller-volume peated Ledaig — and since 2019 a gin. Its spirit also goes into blends such as Black Bottle.
