Kilchoman

Scotland / Islay · Founded 2005

A small farm distillery on Islay's west coast that grows barley, malts, distils, matures and bottles on the island.

History & character

On Rockside Farm in north-west Islay. Founded in 2005 by Anthony Wills, it is an independent, family-run distillery and was the first new distillery built on Islay since 1908.

Everything from growing barley to malting, distilling, maturing and bottling happens on the island. It is one of the few Scottish distilleries still using traditional floor maltings, alongside malt from Port Ellen maltings, and its "100% Islay" range uses only farm-grown barley.

It bought Rockside Farm in 2015 and continues to expand.
