Background & production
Part of the Whiskey Row Series from Old Forester, the Louisville bourbon dating from 1870. When the Volstead Act brought in Prohibition in 1920, only six Kentucky distillers were permitted to keep bottling bourbon for medicinal use; Old Forester was one of them and continued on Louisville's Whiskey Row. It is described as the only bourbon continuously sold by the same company before, during and after Prohibition.
At the time, whiskey had to be bottled at 100 proof. Spirit entered into barrels at 100 proof would have risen to around 115 proof through the angel's share, so this tribute to the era is bottled at 115 proof (57.5% ABV). It carries no age statement.
