Background & production
Named after Dr James Crow, who is credited with developing the sour mash process in Kentucky in 1835. Old Crow went on to become one of the best-selling bourbons of its era.
Today it is produced by Beam Suntory (now Suntory Global Spirits) in Kentucky. The label calls it 'The Original Sour Mash', and it is aged a full three years in new charred white oak barrels before bottling at 40% (80 proof).
