Background & production
From Laphroaig, founded in 1815 on Islay's south coast near Port Ellen. It uses Islay peat and still floor-malts part of its barley on site — the source of its intense, often 'medicinal' smokiness.
This 10-year-old combines whisky matured in ex-bourbon casks with whisky matured in refill oloroso casks, then finishes it in European oak oloroso sherry casks.
It is bottled at 48% ABV.
