How to enjoy it
- Neat
- On the rocks
- Highball
Try it neat first to find the vanilla and spice from the new oak. Over ice the sweetness tightens up, and in a highball it shows an almost bourbon-like toastiness.
Food pairing
Nutty or caramel bakes and apple tart. Smoked pork and barbecue work well too.
Background & production
A 14-year-old from Glenfiddich in Dufftown, Speyside. The distillery was built by William Grant in 1886 and is still owned by the family firm William Grant & Sons.
The spirit spends 14 years in ex-bourbon American oak casks before a finish in deeply charred new American oak barrels. It is described as the first Glenfiddich matured in two types of American oak, with the new barrels supplied by the Kelvin Cooperage in Louisville, Kentucky.
It is bottled at 43% ABV.
