Its honeyed sweetness shows well neat or on the rocks. As a highball it becomes light and easy, good alongside food.

Honey-glazed teriyaki or roast chicken, or apple pie.

Background & production

Made at Aberfeldy in Perthshire. The distillery was built by John Dewar & Sons, with work starting in 1896 and production beginning in 1898. It is now run by Dewar's, part of Bacardi.

It draws its water from the Pitilie Burn, which runs beside the distillery, and its malt is the heart of Dewar's blended whiskies.

The 12 Year Old is the distillery's core expression, bottled at 40% ABV. Heather honey and white fruit are seen as its signature notes.
