Background & production

From the distillery near Port Askaig on Islay's north-east coast, founded in 1881. Unusually for Islay, its core spirit is unpeated.

Stiùireadair is Gaelic for 'helmsman', a nod to the distillery's maritime heritage. It uses whisky matured in first- and second-fill sherry casks.

It is bottled at 46.3% ABV without chill filtration or added colour.
