Background & production
Made at Fort William in the western Highlands, at the foot of Ben Nevis, Britain's highest mountain. The distillery was founded in 1825 by 'Long John' McDonald and has been owned by Japan's Nikka Whisky since 1989.
In 1955 it installed a Coffey still, becoming one of the first sites to make both malt and grain whisky.
The 10 Year Old is the core of the range, bottled at 46%. It is full-bodied, with a whiff of peat, tropical fruit and notes of coffee, nuts and dark chocolate.
