How to enjoy it

  • Neat
  • On the rocks
  • With water

The rich sherry sweetness is best enjoyed neat. On the rocks it tightens up nicely and works as an after-dinner dram.

Food pairing

Fruit cake, chocolate or blue cheese — anything sweet and rich.

Background & production

A single malt from Auchentoshan distillery at Dalmuir near Glasgow. Unusually for Scotland, it triple-distils all of its spirit, and it is now part of Suntory Global Spirits.

Three Wood does what the name says: after maturing in American oak ex-bourbon barrels, it is finished in Spanish Oloroso sherry casks and then Pedro Ximénez sherry casks.

It carries no age statement and is bottled at 43% ABV, pairing the lightness of triple distillation with deep sherry sweetness.
