Glen Scotia

Scotland / Campbeltown · Founded 1832

One of only three working distilleries left in Campbeltown, once a whisky capital. Its malts combine coastal salinity with fruity sweetness.

History & character

Glen Scotia stands on the High Street in Campbeltown, on the Kintyre peninsula. It was founded in 1832 by Stewart, Galbraith & Co.

In the 1800s this small town was home to as many as 21 distilleries. Today only three remain in operation: Glen Scotia, Springbank and Glengyle.

The distillery has one wash still and one spirit still, both onion-shaped with short, wide necks. It has been owned by Loch Lomond Group since 2014, which has invested in the brand, capacity and visitor facilities.
