Background & production
The 15-year-old in the Spot range of Dublin wine merchant Mitchell & Son, distilled at Midleton in County Cork. It is a single pot still whiskey, made from malted and unmalted barley in copper pot stills.
The Spot names come from the coloured marks the Mitchells painted on casks to indicate their intended maturation. Red Spot returned after a gap of around 50 years.
Whiskeys aged at least 15 years in bourbon barrels, Spanish sherry butts and Sicilian Marsala casks are combined and bottled at 46% ABV.
